VIIRS/MODIS — polar orbiters: sharp
(375 m–1 km pixels) but only a few passes per day.
Meteosat — geostationary: a fresh image
every 10 minutes at ~1 km, so it carries the "newest" reading. FIRMS
serves only its last 2 days.
Landsat — 30 m detail on a ~16-day
revisit: sharp when it appears, usually empty.
